Revolution, Civil War, and the 'Long' First World War in Russia

EVAN MAWDSLEY was Professor of International History at the University of Glasgow. His first book (1978) was on the Russian Baltic Fleet in 1917-18; his Russian Civil War, originally published in 1987, is still in print. Most recently he has written on the 1937-45 period, including Thunder in the East: The Nazi-Soviet War (2005), World War II: A New History (2009), and December 1941: Twelve Days That Began a World War (2011). He is the general editor of the forthcoming three-volume Cambridge History of the Second World War.
