Author Biography

Donna Winslow, Program for Research on Peace Security and Society, Centre on Governance, University of Ottawa

Dr. Donna Winslow received her Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Montreal in 1988. She has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Sociology at the University of Ottawa since 1995. She was a technical advisor to the Commission of Inquiry into the Deployment of Canadian Forces to Somalia. In 1998, Dr. Winslow was awarded the Senior Fellowship in the Jennings Randolph Program for International Peace, at the US Institute of Peace, in Washington D.C. Her research interests include research on indigenous knowledge of the environment/development, sovereignty movements in Hawaii, and sustainable development in the Pacific. She is currently the Chair of Social Anthropology Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
