2025 JMSS Annual Awards Competition

The Journal of Military and Strategic Studies invites graduate students enrolled at recognized Canadian universities to submit papers to its annual student awards competition. JMSS is hosted by the Centre for Military, Security and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary.

JMSS is fully refereed and publishes original scholarship on a broad range of topics related to military, security, and strategic studies.

Graduate Student Paper Prizes:

• 1st Prize: $1,000
• 2nd Prize: $600
• 3rd Prize: $400

Submission Deadline: October 24, 2025.

Submission Guidelines:

• Articles must be original contributions, not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
• If another version of the article has been, is being, or will be published elsewhere, this must be clearly indicated at the time of submission. In such cases, authors must ensure appropriate citation of JMSS is included.
