Journal History

The International Journal of Nursing Student Scholarship originated as a result of Dr Carole-Lynne Le Navenec's search for a refereed journal where Nursing students-- both undergraduate and graduate students-- could publish their scholarly papers that they had completed as part of an online post RN credit course called NURSING SCHOLARSHIP and other nursing courses. This search led to the discovery of an existing journal called Journal of Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship http://www.juns.nursing.arizona.edu/default.htm That journal began in 1999 under the editorship of Dr Judith Effken and the late Dr Judy Ayoub with the Faculty of Nursing, University of Arizona at Tucson in the United States (http://www.juns.nursing.arizona.edu/articles/Fall%201999/editorial1.htmDue to the death of Dr Judy Ayoub, and other recent changes happening at their University, Dr Effken kindly agreed to accept the offer from Drs LeNavenec, Hirst and Aldiabat from the University of Calgary Faculty of Nursing to develop and redesign the journal so that its scope could be international and the number of submissions from nursing students could be increased, including a few from students in related health disciplines .
